Virginia Henley – A Woman of Passion

Marble-hard manroots abound in this tale of real-life Elizabethan figure Bess of Hardwick. If there were criminal tribunals for purple prose offenders, Virginia Henley would get a whole bunch of books thrown at her. But I appreciate the thorny Scarlett O’Hara type character she makes out of Bess.

    Mary Balogh – Tangled

Mary Balogh’s catalog is big enough that she’s got some wonderful romances and some outright stinkers. Unfortunately, thanks to Stupid Romance Novel Plot Shenanigans, this one’s a stinker.

  • Lisakleypas Marriedbymorning

Lisa Kleypas – Married by Morning and other Hathaways books

Fourth in the Hathaways series; the hero is the brother, and the heroine is the governess/paid companion/etiquette tutor to his two younger sisters. Naturally, once they finally admit their mutual attraction, they can’t keep their hands off each other.

Sherry Thomas – Not Quite A Husband

Heroine is a doctor (yeah, that’s right!), hero is a math genius and overall renaissance man. He is four years younger than her and has loved her since childhood. They get married after a whirlwind courtship but it all goes to crap followed by annulment, because of reasons. One of my favorites!
